26 July Our Beta is public!Hello there, We’ve finally done it! Our ‘little’ project to bring you the next generation consumer mail application is going public. As of today (actually we slipped it out quietly last week or so) we are instituting a hassle-free sign up for the Mail Desktop beta. No beta invitation emails are necessary. Simply go through the process below and you should be up and running in minutes*. We’re driving hard toward our version 1 release and we need your help to locate those hard to find issues that you care about the most and to tell us what you think. We’re confident that you will find the beta very usable and we promise to send you a refresh very soon (plenty of new goodies on the way!). In case you’ve forgotten, here’s some of the great things you get with Live Mail Desktop now: One more thing: our beta is supported. If you run into any problems, use this link to get support – http://support.live.com/eform.aspx?productKey=wlmaildesktop. We even have a support blog - here. Download and send us feedback at wlmdb@microsoft.com . For more on sending feedback, see a previous blog post, here. We can’t wait to hear from you. Spread the word. *Direct sign up is only available if your Passport is a US Passport. We’re working to make this more broadly available. If you do not have a US Passport, you will be automatically directed to our waiting list. Once you submit your email address, we will send you an invitation as soon as we can *Windows Live Custom Domains and MSN premium accounts are not supported by the beta program at this time. - Oji 20 July Channel 9 Video on Active Search!Channel 9 Video on Active Search! OK, so maybe we won't be able to fulfill your food requests, but hopefully the info below will give you some guidance on best ways to get info back to the product team.
We have a support team! Our support team has a site you can visit to (1) take a look at current status on some of our reported issues and workarounds that are available and (2) report new bugs/technical issues. Here's the site: Support Team’s Space. On this site, you can find a link that says "Submit a Ticket." If you have a technical issue, we strongly encourage you to use this link and fill out the e-form that's been provided. Not only will your incident be reported, tracked, aggregated and escalated…but if we’ve resolved the issue already or targeted it for a fix, we’ll reply back with helpful information.
Why mess with a good thing? You can keep on keepin' on with your usual routine of posting any questions, annoying bugs, and suggestions here. To help us organize your posts, it would be helpful if you could tag them in the Title with the type of feedback you're providing - either COMMENT:, BUG:, or REQUEST: A few examples to get you started...

Q: How do join the beta? And the journey begins...Thanks for the intro, Lei!
Blogging - what a great way to communicate. It's one of those things that makes you say - "Gee, wish I had come up with that idea. I'd be making millions." I'm really excited to be driving this space for WLMD moving forward, and am super excited to hear what all our Beta testers have to say about the product!
A little background info about me:
I was born and raised in a small town in northwest Indiana, near the city of Gary (birthplace of Michael Jackson, and focus of a song in the musical "The Music Man"). Went to Purdue University where I double majored in Computer Science and Genetics - and it only took me a little over 6 years to graduate! ;-) Shortly after graduating, I traveled across the country and started working at Microsoft as a tester. Before joining the WLMD team, I was a test lead on the Internet Explorer team. And now, here I am - working on WLMD as a Program Manager!
Well, that's about it for the intro...
Stay tuned for more posts very shortly!

14 July Welcome to the team Tanja!Tanja is the newest program manager on our team and will be officially heading up the blog! In the past, our blog was headed by a small group of internal bloggers interested in talking about the product. But now that Tanja’s on board, we’ll have a dedicated person who’s going to be maintaining the blog and posting on a regular basis. That doesn’t mean the rest of the team won’t be posting but rather our communication with you will be speedier and more responsive. I’ll let Tanja introduce herself in her own words.
